Mr.Xianghong Cao, expert in petrochemicals, Senior Member of Sinopec Science and Technology Committee, and Director General of China’s National Standardization Technical Committee for Petroleum Products and Lubricants. He once served as Vice President of Sinopec Group, Board Director and Senior Vice President of Sinopec Corp., Chief Technology Officer of Sinopec Group, Director General of Sinopec Science and Technology Committee, and Chairman of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China.Mr. Cao has been engaged in technological development and management in petrochemicals, and organized and implemented more than 30 significant technical breakthroughs and technical transformations for refinery and petrochemical plant. In the field of synthetic rubber, Mr. Cao participated in cis-polybutadiene rubber (CBR) technical breakthrough, and developed core technologies for long-cycle operation and stable product quality of CBR; he was responsible for completing industrialization of China’s first solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) plant; he also decided on introducing laboratory technologies, responsible for completing the industrialization of China’s first butyl rubber (IIR) plant, and guided the industrial development of rare-earth catalyst-based cis-1,4-polybutadiene rubber and rare-earth polyisoprene rubber, making great contributions to China’s synthetic rubber industry.
Mr. Cao was elected member of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 1999, and international member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in 2009.
