Professor Yixian Wu received the degrees of BSc (1986), MSc (1991) and PhD (1998) from Beijing University of Chemical Technology. She was promoted to full Professor in 2001 and PhD supervisor status in 2002. She visited the University of Gent in Belgium and University of Evry in France from Dec. 2001 to May 2002. Her scientific research interests focus on: (1) Controlled/living polymerization of C2~C5 olefins, styrene and its derivatives; (2) Macromolecular engineering via controlled/living polymerization; (3) Advanced synthetic rubber for tire manufacture and (4) Advanced thermoplastic elastomer synthesis for biomedical and energy applications. She was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China for key projects in 1999 and 2016. The innovations have made significant contributions to technological process in their respective industries. The fundamental research and innovation technology from her laboratory had been successfully applied in industry for the synthetic rubber production. Over 160 publications in journals, such as Macromolecules, J. Polym. Sci., Polymer, Soft Matter, AIChE Journal as well as more than 130 innovation patents including 28 international patents have been resulted from her work. Two projects have been awarded the second grade prize of National Technology Innovation by national level bodies. She was elected as one of the winners for the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in Universities by the Ministry of Education. She was awarded the title of “National Women Inventor”, “Distinguished Young Scholars in China” and “Distinguished Young Woman Scientist in China”. She was also elected as a Changjiang Scholar by the Ministry of Education and Fellow of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China.
