Weimin, Yang, male, born in November 1965, holds a B.S. degree of Mechanical Engineering, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees of Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 1987 and 1990, and 1998, respectively. He has been employed as a professor since 1999. From 2000 to 2002, he has worked as a postdoc in the University of Tokyo, Japan supported by the Chinese government. In 2005, he was selected into the New Century Talents Program of the Ministry of Education, and he was selected as a Distinguished Professor of "Cheung Kong Scholars" in 2011. Currently, he is the Dean and Professor of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. He also served as the Director of the Expert Committee of China Plastics Processing Industry Association, and the Deputy Director of the Expert Committee of China Plastics engineering industry Association. In addition, he is the member of the Expert Committee of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the Expert Committee of China Mechanical Engineering Society (Automation Branch), and the Expert Committee of China Chemical Industry Association (Rubber Branch). He was recognized as the Expert of China Rubber Machinery Industry Association, the Expert of Collaborative Innovation Alliance of Tire Dynamics, and the Consultant Expert of China Die & Mould Industry Association. He is the Executive Committee Member of the Asian Workshop on Polymer Processing (AWPP), and the President of the Society of plastics Engineers (SPE) - Injection Molding Division. He is the associate editor of the Journal of Beijing University of Chemical Technology and is also on the editorial board of several journals in the field of polymer processing.
He carries out research around "Principle and Equipment of Rubber Processing and Molding" and "Polymer Material Processing and Molding and Intelligent Manufacturing Technology". Representative research results are as follows:
1) Proposed a new theory that tire rolling energy consumption mainly depends on "turning force arm" and "moment of inertia", and invented triangular balanced contour tires;
2) Innovated and broke through the key technology of precision printing and dyeing guide tape manufacturing neck jam, and successfully developed a large drum vulcanizing machine;
3) Invented the ultra-wide film extrusion molding method and equipment of giant tires;
4) Developed high-performance tire internal and external mold electromagnetic induction heating direct pressure vulcanization shaping method and equipment;
5) Broke through the blind spot of the core principle of precision injection molding of polymer materials, invented precision measurement and control technology of polymer PVT characteristics, and innovatively proposed polymer 3D copy intelligent manufacturing technology;
6) Proposed the principle of calculus of polymer processing and molding, and develop green manufacturing technology of polymer melt differential electrospinning nanofibers. The above achievements have been industrialized and created significant economic and social benefits.

His research group has undertaken over 50 projects supported by the National Science Foundation of China, the National Science and Technology Support Plan, the National Key R&D Program of China, etc. He has published more than 600 journal papers and 15 books, such as Plastics Precision Injection Molding Principle and Equipment, New Technology of Plastic Extrusion Processing, and 3D Printing and 3D Copying Technology. He also obtained more than 280 authorized invention patents of China and 10 PCT patents. In the more than 30 years of teaching, he has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents. He has received numerous honors and recognitions, including 2 Awards of China National Science and Technology Progress, 15 Provincial or Ministerial Awards of China, the Hou Debang Chemical Technology Innovation Award, the National Excellent Scientific and Technological Worker in Chemical Industry, the Outstanding Teacher of Beijing, the Advanced Worker of Beijing, the National Excellent Teacher, etc.
