Jinhua Qian was born on September 26, 1965. She graduated from East China University of Science and Technology with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering at in 1988. Then, she received a master’s degree in Physical Chemistry of High Polymers from Lanzhou University and a Ph.D. from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She also has a postdoctoral experience at China University of Petroleum (Beijing). She worked as a director of the Refining & Chemical Project Division., R&D Management Department at China National Petroleum CorporationCNPC, and was rated as the professor-level senior engineer.
She has a 17-year experience of technology development and project management in large petrochemical company, and specialized in oil refining and the industrial manufacturing technology of advanced materials. While working at PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Company, she undertook several research and development projects about the catalysts and chemical processes for oil refining, and has won 2 Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. Moreover, she has organized several process package development projects for manufacturing new polyolefin productsstyrene-butadiene and nitrile rubber, etc..

She has a 17-year experience of technology development and management on chemical engineering and advanced materials in CNPC, and has an acute insight into the development trend of the industry and the advanced technology. In CNPC, she was mainly responsible for the project management of research and development in the field of the oil refining and the industrial manufacturing technology of advanced materials. She has been in charge of compiling 3 five-year plans of scientific and technology development. She has also organized several process package development projects for manufacturing polyolefin products (α-olefin, PAOs, polyolefin catalysts, polyester, etc.), thousand-ton carbon fiber unit、million-ton ethylene unit, and liquid rubber (polybutylenenitrileEPMisoprene、butadiene and butyl rubber, etc.). She has won 5 Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, 2 awards for invention, 10 outstanding achievement awards, and applied 12 patents for invention (8 granted).
