Dr. Mengjiao Wang is currently the Director of EVE Rubber Research Institute and the Chief Scientist of National Engineering Research Center for Rubber and Tire (NERCRAT), awarded as “Overseas Distinguished Expert of Taishan Scholars" of Shandong Province, and Lifelong honorary member of the American Chemical Society. He began his career in rubber research in the Beijing Research and Design Institute of the Rubber Industry, China. He soon rose to become a professor and Chief Engineer, the top scientific position in the organization. In 1982, Meng-Jiao moved to France to work at the CNRS in Mulhouse. His work there led to several significant papers, and a Doctoral degree (Docteur d'Etat es Sciences). He then worked as a visiting scientist at the University of Akron, and then the German Institute for Rubber Technology (DIK). In 1989 he joined Degussa as a Senior Scientist. In December 1993, MengJiao moved again to the United States to join Cabot as a Senior Member of Technical Staff, there he was appointed Scientific Fellow, the company’s highest scientific position. During his tenure abroad, Meng-Jiao Wang published over 140 scientific papers, 33 different US patents and 15 PCT applications. He co-authored the book "Carbon Black: Science and Technology" and co-authored 6 other books. He has presented numerous papers at ACS Rubber Division Meetings and international conferences. He used to be a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Rubber Chemistry and Technology. In 2006, Meng-Jiao received the Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award from Rubber Division of ACS, USA, because of his exceptional technical competency by making significant and repeated contributions to rubber science and technology. In 2011, Meng-Jiao returned to China and joined National Engineering Research Center for Rubber and Tire (NERCRAT) as the Chief Scientist. Later he was appointed as the Director of EVE Rubber Institute founded by NERCRAT. In the institute, he developed a new liquid phase mixing with polymer solution and fillers, such as silica. Over 40 patents in China and other countries/regions were granted to this mixing process. The rubber/silica masterbatches produced with this technology which is named EVE composite (EVEC) show excellent macroand micro-dispersion of the filler in polymer matrix, higher polymer-filler interaction and lower filler-filler interaction. The EVEC has been commercialized. The performance of the green tire prepared by EVEC ranks the AA level of EU Tire Labelling Regulation. EVEC has reached the international leading level reviewed by experts from China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. The liquid-phase mixing process was also nominated to the 2017 International Tire Technology Annual Award. The magazineevaluated this process as a "breakthrough mixing technology", or "liquid gold", and believed that this process would help Chinese tire industry jumping to the world's top ranks. During his work in China, he has applied for more than 80 patents, authored the book "Rubber Reinforcement with Particulate Fillers” in Chinese and English
